Work permit in Belarus

A foreign citizen may carry out labor activity in Belarus if he obtains permission for work and concludes a labor contract.

Permission for work in Belarus is the document that allows a foreign citizen to work in the Republic of Belarus.

Permission for work is issued to a foreigner if he does not have a permission for permanent residence in the Republic of Belarus.

Usually obtaining work permit takes a period from 15 to 25 calendar days.

Work permit is issued for a period of 1 (one) year with the right of its extension for 1 (one) year. After the extension it will be necessary to get a new work permit.

After obtaining work permit in Belarus the employer should conclude a labor contract with a foreign citizen. It is necessary to consider the provisions of the law on foreigners under the employment contract. That legislation required to include specific provisions in a labor contract with a foreign citizen, for example, information on medical services, insurance etc.

It is necessary to pay attention to the fact that the legislation of the labor contract with a foreign citizen should be registered in the Migration Department.

The obligation of labor contract registration is under the responsibility of the employer of the Republic of Belarus. The employer has to apply for the labor contract registration within 1 (one) month from the date of the conclusion of the labor contract. In case of extension of special permission for labor activity the additional agreement on extension of the labor contract with a foreign citizen should be also registered in the Migration Department.
